The Dull Men

Early Saturday they meet
One by one, step by step
They come

They are – the dull men,
And they celebrate
Awake
The dull men. Today all awake.

Table ten
Always table ten

Sparkling water
Still water
Water for Life
Not like before

We are the lucky ones
They say
We are the lucky ones
They say

Step by step
They get their fill

No hurry
No race
Just one step
At a time

We are the lucky ones
They say
We are the lucky ones
They say

Bread breaks
Cups rise
Time floats by

They speak of life
Of music
Of people
The Wonders of art
The challenges of work
The laughter over and over

And now
Their Experience, strength and hope..
All with a touch of madness

We are the lucky ones
They say
We are the lucky ones
They say

Flat white
Who ordered the flat white
They sit they think
They stare
No one remembers.
Who cares…

Life is simpler than before
Now they listen
They laugh and cry
All being in the moment – serenity speaks. Thank you.

We are the lucky ones
They say
We are the lucky ones
They say

Like clockwork
They stand
Another meeting waits
Smiles all round

They thank the chef.
They thank the hands that served
They rush to the door, they’re late

Lives richer
Than before

Table ten
Empty again

But it waits
Next Saturday the dull men will come.
Like life – the doors will open

We are the lucky ones
They say
We are the lucky ones
They say

Yes
The lucky ones
Thank you for today
